
On Thursday, June 24, 2010, Tripoli welcomed His Excellency the Ambassador of Australia in Lebanon, James Batley, accepting the invitation of Rahma Medical Center to patronage and attend the annual ceremony for the disabled children of Rahma disabled Institute.
The visit began with a tour of his Excellency in the different sections of Rahma Medical Center, where he was informed about the most important care services provided to the patients of the specialized rehabilitation hospital moreover his Excellency visited the Outpatient Rehabilitation Center and the Pediatric Rehabilitation Center.
After lunch in "the palace of sweet" at Abdul Rahman Hallab, the guests headed, led by the Ambassador to Al-Safadi Cultural Center, to participate in the Annual Ceremony which was attended by representatives of political , security, municipal, social, cultural figures, as well as the parents of the students. The opening was a recitation of verses of the Qur’an, recited by the child Yusha’ Ibrahim Hourani,a disabled student in the Department of cerebral palsy, then the Lebanese anthem. after welcoming the guests, speeches were given according to the program, first by the CEO of Rahma Medical Center Mr. Ezzat Hussein Agha, who disclosed on the strategic plan of the Institute of disabled to construct an independent building for the students of Rahma Disabled Institute, affirming keenness to extend bridges of cooperation between the Center, and similar institutions that provide care to persons with disabilities in Australia.
Hence, the word of the ceremony’s guest Captain Jamal Taha, who spoke about the love latent in the heart of disabled children which is unknown for many people, hoping for the institute to achieve more success in subsequent years.
His Excellency Ambassador of Australia, spoke about the disability in the world in general, and Australia in particular, and the associated decisions by the United Nations to do justice to this group of people, promising to make an effort to facilitate cooperation frameworks between Rahma Medical center, and the Australian organizations to develop skills and increase expertise, expressing his admiration for the accomplishments achieved, and the techniques used conforming to the requirements of international quality.
later on, Sheikh Fawaz Hussein Agha, Chairman of the Board of Directors offered a number of appreciation trophies, to the Ambassador, valuing the humanitarian role carried through his sponsorship of the ceremony, also to the former Mayor of Tripoli, the engineer Rashid Jamali, for his continuous support to the activities of the center during his presidency of the municipality. In addition,a trophy was offered to Captain Jamal Taha, in recognition to his national achievements in sports.
Then Ms. Rola Jamal, Director of the Institute announced the ceremony’s Special Program which included expressive dances and songs. It filled the hearts of the audience with joy and hope for a bright future in the hands of specialized and expert educators who have been offered medals, in recognition of their efforts and sacrifices.
By the way, all the schools which contributed to the success of the 8th Spring Exhibition of handicrafts that took place between the 24th and the 30th last April, were awarded certificates of appreciation for their active participation.
